One tournament that PLL has participated in over the years is the Jimmy Fund Little League Tournament.
The Jimmy Fund tournament is different from others, as the standings are not based on games won or lost, but by how much each team raised through donations and fund raising.
Little League and the Boston Red Sox team up each year to help raise funds for this great cause.
From www.jimmyfund.org:
The Jimmy Fund solely supports Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, raising funds for adult and pediatric cancer care and research to improve the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world. Since its founding in 1948, the Jimmy Fund has raised millions of dollars through thousands of community fundraising events.
The story of the Jimmy Fund is one of grassroots involvement — of thousands of people organizing bake sales, lemonade stands, runs, walks, golf tournaments, dances, and softball games to raise money for cancer research and care.
This is a fun tournament for all 9, 10, 11 and 12 year olds who would like to continue to play baseball through the summer.
In 2016 we had a PLL Jimmy Fund team raise the most money in Division 16. The team was provided tickets to a Red Sox game.
Peabody Little League will be placing teams in the 10 year old, 11 year old and 12 year old levels. Games are played with teams from other cities within District 16.
We are looking to put teams together quickly. Games begin in July.
If you would like to play this great tournament, please log in to your PLL online account. When you log in, you will see a new "Program Available", click and follow the registration for 2018 Jimmy Fund.
There is a $50 fee that will be collected. This fee is used as part of PLL's donation to the Jimmy Fund each year.
New shirts and hats are ordered for the tournament, so please adjust accordingly as you complete registrations.
